Quality Stock Screener

Quality screening asks a simple question that most stock screeners answer badly: is this company actually a good business, not just a cheap one? A quality stock generates real profits from its core operations, carries a balance sheet that can survive a downturn, and produces those results consistently — quarter after quarter, not just in one lucky year. That combination shows up in metrics like return on invested capital, gross profitability, debt-to-equity, accrual quality, and earnings consistency. Screening for quality means filtering out companies that look good on a single metric, such as a low P/E, but are quietly deteriorating underneath: rising debt, shrinking margins, or earnings propped up by accounting choices rather than cash flow.

Most screeners force you to juggle ten or more filters to approximate “quality” — ROE above X, debt below Y, margin above Z — and even then it's easy to miss the interactions between them. A company can pass every individual threshold and still be a mediocre business overall. Tessera Alpha collapses that complexity into a single composite quality score from 0 to 100, so you can rank the entire market on one number instead of hand-tuning a dozen sliders. High scores cluster the companies that are strong across profitability, balance-sheet strength, and consistency at the same time, not just on whichever one metric you happened to filter for.

The score comes from Tessera's 24-factor model, which blends profitability (gross profitability, ROIC, income quality), balance-sheet strength (leverage, accrual ratio), and trend signals (ROIC trend, revenue and EPS growth) into one normalized rank recomputed weekly against the full universe of more than 4,000 US-listed stocks. The table below shows the current top-scoring large-cap names — market cap above $10 billion, so the list stays limited to companies you can actually act on — ranked by that composite score. Pair it with the live screener to combine quality with your own valuation, sector, or momentum filters.
