Most valuation tools ask you to compare a stock's P/E against the overall market average. Tessera takes a different approach: every stock is measured against the median P/E of its own sector. Because Technology, Healthcare, and Energy businesses operate with structurally different economics, a single market-wide multiple distorts the picture. A 30× P/E is ordinary for a software company; it signals an expensive utility.
